Between 1958-1962 Frankie Avalon reached the Billboard US music charts 31 times. The singer had number one hits with Venus and Why. Frankie Avalon also acted in numerous movies. He appeared with Annette Funnicello in many beach movies. He also acted dramatically in The Alamo and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. The star made an appearance in the movie 1978 Grease as well. The talented star appeared in dozens of popular television shows including The Bing Crosby Show and The Patty Duke show. Frankie Avalon, a former teen idol has been a performer for many years. He was born in 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began performing at the age of 12 appearing on TV playing the trumpet. As a teenager he performed with Bobby Rydell playing his trumpet and singing. By 1959 he had two smash hits Why and Venus that made it to the top of the Billboard charts. He quickly became famous with the teens, especially teenage girls because of his dreamy voice and handsome look. By the end of 1962 Avalon had a total of 31 billboard hits.
During the 60's Frankie Avalon teamed up with Annette Funicello to begin his acting career. The two paired up well making fun, romantic beach movies. Some were Beach Blanket Bingo and Beach Party. The couple became known as "Frankie and Annette" singing and dancing their way into many hearts.
